Was DOGE a Dud? ft. PEG

Restoring Order - EP 329

Pascal-Emmanuel Gobry is a Twitter pundit and the Publisher of PolicySphere. He joins me to discuss his work, DOGE, and the future of the American right.

First, we hear about PEG’s background. How did a Frenchman come to be so invested in American politics? He explains that he is carrying on the fine French tradition of lecturing Americans about their own country. We then discuss PolicySphere and the importance of understanding how the government works. Switching gears, we consider DOGE. Did it succeed? Was it a failure? PEG explains why laying off bureaucrats doesn’t always render the government more efficient. Toward the end of the first half, we discuss the different skill sets required for public and private sector work.

In the second half (available to subscribers), PEG and I point out the silver lining to DOGE. We then switch topics to discuss PolicySphere’s quality of life agenda. PEG explains that while Trump’s 2024 victory was heartening, we shouldn’t ignore the fact that not all Trump voters are committed Republicans. So, how do we keep their vote? By improving their quality of life through policies designed to keep America safe, orderly, happy, and healthy. What might those be? Tune in to find out.
