Ernst J. van Zyl (Conscious Caracal) is Head of Public Relations at AfriForum, an Afrikaner advocacy organization. He joins me for a discussion on the situation in South Africa.
We first hear about Ernst’s upbringing. What was it like to grow up in South Africa? We then discuss AfriForum’s objectives and initiatives. This leads to a consideration of the overall situation in South Africa. Is it really as bad as it’s made out to be? Next, we discuss the country’s complex demographic makeup and how it contributes to the chaos. At the end of the first half, I ask Ernst if there are any liberals among South Africa’s white minority – and if so, what the hell they’re thinking.
In the second half (available to subscribers), we shift gears to explore recent events. What has it been like for Ernst and his compatriots to witness the U.S. president not only bringing attention to their cause but also taking action? Ernst gives us his take on the refugee program, and I ask him what else the Trump administration can do to assist. This leads to a consideration of the options available to Afrikaners – namely, electoral politics versus building parallel institutions. As Ernst explains, AfriForum is primarily concerned with the latter. Toward the end, I ask whether he sees any parallels between America and South Africa. Tune in to find out whether or not he does!
