Dr. Jason Richwine is a political commentator and author. He holds a PhD in Public Policy from Harvard University and is a resident scholar at the Center for Immigration Studies. Jason joins me for a broad discussion on immigration and American politics.
We begin by discussing Jason’s background and cancellation. What happened? I ask him if the right has moved beyond cancel culture. We then consider Trump 47’s progress on immigration so far. Are mass deportations happening? If not, how much of that can be blamed on ICE’s budgetary limitations? I then ask Jason about the border wall. Is that still happening?
In the show’s second half (available to subscribers), we continue our discussion of illegal immigration. Jason argues that immigration, legal or illegal, has many of the same consequences. We then discuss and refute several arguments made in favor of cheap foreign labor. How does mass immigration relate to the growing phenomenon of men opting out of the labor force? Shifting gears, we consider legal immigration. What will the Trump administration do on this front? Toward the end of the show, I ask Jason whether demographics are still destiny, in light of Trump's considerable gains among certain minority groups in 2024.
