Drew Pavlou is a Twitter pundit, writer, and YouTuber. He joins me for a broad discussion on his intellectual journey, liberalism, immigration, and more.
To begin, Drew details his intellectual journey, including his anti-CCP campus activism. He recounts how leftists attacked him for being white, which leads to an important question: Are Greeks white? I argue yes. Next, Drew explains how getting robbed prompted him to move rightward. We also discuss the threat of mass immigration, his thoughts on Noah Smith and Matt Yglesias, and why becoming a liberal human rights activist to own Israel, whatever your thoughts on Israel, isn’t the right move.
In the second half (available to subscribers, you must SUBSCRIBE), Drew recounts his Twitter beef with Captive Dreamer. How did that start—and how did it end? Moving along, we discuss his “Dark Abundance” concept. Drew explains how his vision differs from Ezra Klein’s. This leads to a discussion on liberalism. Drew argues that law and order and national identity are not mutually exclusive with rule of law and representative government. We discuss why Japan is a problem not only for neoconservatives, but also for some on the dissident right. Toward the end, we consider whether right-wing goals can be achieved within contemporary Western political systems.
